E. coli O26 USDA FSIS MLG 5B.04, Latex Agglutination Test (LAT), 50-test
Request InfoThe E. coli O26 Test is a rapid latex agglutination test, designed solely for the presumptive identification of Escherichia coli serogroup O26 cultured on TSA agar plate. These Test Kits should be used as part of the USDA-FSIS test protocol described in the USDA-FSIS Microbiology Laboratory Guidebook (MLG) Chapter 5 Detection, Isolation and Identification of Top Seven Shiga-Toxin Producing Escherichia coli (STECs) from Meat Products and Carcass and Environmental Sponges. The polystyrene latex particles provided in the kit are coupled to antibodies against E. coli serotype O26. When the latex particles are mixed on a test card with fresh colonies of E. coli O26, the bacteria will bind to the antibody causing the latex particles to agglutinate (positive reaction). Bacteria that are not E. coli O26 will not bind to the antibody and will not agglutinate the latex particles (negative reaction).
